Many Swiss water distributors are currently facing the chlorothalonil problem in their drinking water. An EAWAG study (Fact Sheet 02.2020) shows that reverse osmosis is the only effective treatment for removal of these contaminants. Membratec has already successfully employed this process for water softening purposes.
In autumn 2019 Membratec ran a reverse osmosis pilot study for the SWG (Seeländische Wasserversorgung Gemeindeverband). The results are very encouraging: all chlorothalonil metabolites were retained by the membrane, with an easy and low-energy operation.
